Dubai's visionary pursuit of creating the world's largest airport is now in full swing with the commencement of construction at Al Maktoum International Airport. This ambitious undertaking, announced by UAE Prime Minister HH Sheikh Mohammad, marks a significant shift as all operations from Dubai International Airport will eventually transition to Al Maktoum International Airport. The project, part of Dubai Aviation Corporation's strategic roadmap, comes with a hefty price tag of AED 128 billion, signaling the emirate's commitment to pushing the boundaries of aviation infrastructure.

At the heart of this colossal endeavor lies the airport's unprecedented capacity, set to handle a staggering 260 million passengers annually upon completion. This capacity dwarfs that of any existing airport globally and is a testament to Dubai's status as a hub of international travel. The airport's sheer size, five times larger than the current Dubai International Airport, is indicative of the grandeur and scale of the development.

The infrastructure planned for Al Maktoum International Airport is nothing short of monumental. With 400 aircraft gates and five parallel runways, the airport's design prioritizes efficiency and seamless operations. Moreover, the incorporation of cutting-edge aviation technologies underscores Dubai's commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation in the aviation sector.

The financial commitment to this project is substantial, with an estimated cost of approximately ₹2900 Crores, reflecting the magnitude of the development. The timeline for completion is ambitious yet strategic, with the first phase expected to accommodate 150 million passengers annually within the next decade.

Beyond its immediate impact on aviation, the airport's development is set to catalyze broader urban and economic growth. The creation of an entire city around the airport in Dubai South, as mentioned by the emirate's ruler, will not only house leading companies in logistics and air transport but also provide homes for a million people. This integrated approach aligns with Dubai's long-term vision of sustainable development and economic prosperity.

In essence, the construction of the world's largest airport in Dubai represents a monumental leap forward in the realm of aviation infrastructure. It not only underscores Dubai's position as a global leader in aviation but also sets the stage for future generations, ensuring continuous growth and stability for years to come."
